3D-Scan.Online is the browser-based processing platform connected to the ASCAND capture workflow. It receives applicable scan recordings, coordinates the reconstruction process, presents results for review and makes the available outputs accessible for download.
ASCAND and 3D-Scan.Online perform different parts of one workflow. The physical system creates controlled visual observations while the object rotates. The online platform interprets those observations and prepares geometric results for further use.
This is more than changing a video into another file type. Reconstruction, point-cloud processing, mesh generation and output preparation may all contribute to the result.

Bring the applicable ASCAND recording into a browser-based project. The video is the source evidence for reconstruction, so capture quality, object visibility and the selected workflow still matter after upload.
Coordinate the processing path
The platform connects the project with the appropriate reconstruction and output stages. Different scan types use different evidence and may require different processing branches.
Review what was reconstructed
Previews and project results help you inspect the reconstructed object before deciding what to download or do next. Review remains an active step, not a formality.
Deliver usable outputs
Available point-cloud and mesh results are prepared for downstream activities such as inspection, editing, visualization or 3D-print preparation. The appropriate output depends on the project and its intended use.

A scan project moves through a traceable sequence
1. Create or open the project
Begin in the current 3D-Scan.Online interface and create or select the project that will contain the capture and its results. Use the current documentation for account, project and file requirements.
2. Upload the applicable capture video
Select the recording produced by the relevant ASCAND workflow. Uploading cannot correct missing viewpoints, object movement, unstable lighting or an incorrectly configured capture station.
3. Select the appropriate processing path
Choose the currently available scan type or processing settings that match how the recording was captured. Vision, Laser, Combo and Multi-Scan workflows do not all contain the same evidence.
4. Let processing complete
Reconstruction is asynchronous rather than an instant local file conversion. The platform coordinates the required stages and makes the resulting project state available through the browser.
5. Inspect and download the available results
Review the result before choosing an output. Check whether the geometry and appearance are suitable for the intended next step, then download the available representation that best supports that task.

Reconstruction is more than changing a file extension
An ASCAND capture video is not a finished 3D model stored inside a video container. It is a sequence of observations recorded while the object rotates in a controlled relationship to the camera and turntable.
Processing begins by interpreting useful frames and the references required by the selected capture method. Vision, Laser and Combo workflows derive geometry from different forms of evidence. The resulting observations may be reconstructed into point clouds or volumetric geometry, evaluated, cleaned, combined or converted into polygonal surfaces.
A point cloud represents sampled locations in three-dimensional space. A mesh connects geometric information into an explicit surface that more downstream software can use. Additional preparation may preserve color, create a closed surface, favor detail, improve continuity or adapt orientation and structure for a particular application.
These operations involve choices and trade-offs. A smoother result can lose small features. A watertight model may include interpreted geometry where the original views contained gaps. A less-processed result can preserve evidence while remaining unsuitable for direct printing.
3D-Scan.Online coordinates this reconstruction path. It should not be understood as a generic file-extension converter.

Review the result as evidence—not as an automatic promise
A completed job is the beginning of evaluation. Rotate the preview and inspect the object from several viewpoints. Look for missing regions, unexpected additions, holes, soft edges, isolated geometry and areas where the surface changes abruptly.
Check the result against its intended use. A visually convincing model may be sufficient for online presentation but unsuitable as the dimensional basis for a replacement part. A closed mesh may be easier to print while containing interpreted surfaces. Color or texture can help recognition without proving geometric accuracy.
The original capture remains the limiting source of evidence. If a recess, underside or self-occluded surface was never observed well enough, processing cannot reliably recover its true shape. A second orientation may provide complementary views, but successful alignment and merging still depend on suitable overlap and geometry.
Treat previews as a practical inspection tool. They help you decide whether to download, repeat the capture, use another scan method or continue into editing. They do not certify accuracy, completeness, printability or suitability for engineering decisions.

Choose an output for what you want to do next
Point-cloud outputs
Point clouds preserve sampled geometric evidence and are useful for inspection, comparison, alignment and further point-based processing. Less-processed variants may retain noise or incomplete regions that more polished outputs suppress.
Geometry-only meshes
Mesh outputs provide explicit polygonal surfaces for mesh editors, slicing tools, visualization and other systems that do not work directly with point clouds. Geometry-only files do not necessarily contain color or texture.
Colored or textured meshes
Where the captured evidence and completed processing support appearance information, an output may represent color through vertex data, textures or materials. Good geometry does not automatically guarantee perfect color or texture placement.
Prepared and application-specific outputs
Some workflows need a closed or manufacturing-oriented mesh; others favor detail, robustness, visualization or another downstream purpose. Preparation can make a model more useful for one task while changing or discarding information needed for another.
Not every project produces every output family. Availability depends on what was captured, which reconstruction branches completed and which current platform options apply. Choose by processing intent and downstream use—not by file extension alone.
